Filtering Inventory by Customs Status

Customs Status is now a standard inventory filter, so you can pull every work at a given customs stage.

Written by Kalila Richards

Customs Status has been recordable on artworks for a while, but you couldn't search for it. It now works as a standard inventory filter, alongside filters like status, location, and artist.

🔎 How to filter

  1. Go to Inventory.

  2. Open the filters panel.

  3. Select Customs Status and choose the value you want.

  4. Apply the filter.

Combine it with other filters — location, artist, list — to narrow further, and save the result as a list if it's a view you'll need again.

💡 Ways registrars use it

  • Pull everything currently in a temporary import status ahead of a deadline.

  • Check which works at a given location still need customs entries recorded.

  • Build a working list for a shipment or a fair return.

❓FAQs

Q: Where do I set Customs Status on a work?

A: On the artwork record, under the location tab, you can find the customs section at the bottom of the page. Here, you can enter details, and the system logs status changes.

Q: Can I bulk-update Customs Status?

A: Yes — customs entries can be batch-edited across multiple artworks.
