Sending Smart Mail to a large group

Written by Kalila Richards

ARTERNAL doesn't limit how many Smart Mail emails you can send in an hour. When you click Send All, ARTERNAL sends to everyone in the Smart Mail. Any limit comes from your email provider.

If you send through Gmail

Gmail limits how many emails you can send in a short time and in one day. So if you send through Gmail and more than 80 emails are left to send, ARTERNAL asks you to confirm first. Outlook and other providers have their own limits too. If some emails don't go out, the steps below work the same way.

  • Click Send All to go ahead. ARTERNAL tries to send every email.

  • If Gmail stops some of them, those contacts stay in the Smart Mail as not sent yet.

How to send the rest

  1. Wait a little while: Give it at least a few minutes. If you've reached Gmail's daily limit, you may need to wait until the next day.

  2. Go back to the Smart Mail: Open the Smart Mail tab and find it in the pipeline view.

  3. Edit Smart Mail: Click the Edit Smart Mail button to open the message for the remaining recipients.

  4. Send the rest: Click Send All again. ARTERNAL sends only to the contacts who haven't received it yet, so nobody gets it twice.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Is there an hourly sending limit in ARTERNAL?
A: No. ARTERNAL sends to everyone when you click Send All. Limits come from your email provider.

Q: Will anyone get the email twice?
A: No. ARTERNAL keeps track of who has already received the email, so Send All only sends to contacts who haven't received it yet.

Q: Why do some contacts still show as not sent?
A: Your email provider stopped those emails, most often Gmail after a large send. They stay in the Smart Mail, so you can click Send All again later to finish.

Q: Do I need to split my list into groups of 80?
A: No. Add everyone to one Smart Mail and click Send All. If some emails don't go out, send the rest later.
