Written by Kalila Richards

Artist initials are used as the prefix when ARTERNAL automatically generates inventory numbers for new artworks. If you'd like to update an artist's initials or adjust their next serial number, you can do so from the artist's profile.

Note: Updating an artist's initials only affects newly created artworks. Existing inventory numbers will not be changed.

Edit an Artist's Initials

  1. Go to Inventory.

  2. Select Artists.

  3. Find and open the artist you'd like to edit.

  4. Click Edit Artist.

  5. Update the Artist Initials field with your preferred initials.

  6. If needed, update the Next Artist Serial to control the next automatically generated inventory number.

  7. Click Save.

Important Notes

  • Artist initials are used when ARTERNAL automatically generates inventory numbers for new artworks.

  • Changing an artist's initials does not update inventory numbers that have already been assigned.

  • If another artist is already using the same initials, ARTERNAL will automatically adjust the initials to keep them unique.

❓FAQs

Q: Will changing an artist's initials rename my existing inventory numbers?

A: No. Existing inventory numbers remain unchanged. Only newly created artworks will use the updated initials.

Q: Can two artists have the same initials?

A: No. Artist initials must be unique. If the initials are already in use, ARTERNAL will automatically modify them to avoid duplicates.
